Road trip to Texas
9/22 to 9/25/2026

   Info about the trip

Bryan had a work trip to Burleson, TX and we decided to turn it into a road trip for both of us!

It was supposed to be a 2 day event, but a kidney stone,

requiring 2 days in the hospital, modified our plans significantly.

   Tuesday, 9/22

   Stop 1

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge - Charon's Garden

Drove through the park to get to this trailhead.

Our original plan was to take the entire 4.8 mile trail, but due to the heat,

and our lack of foresight to bring any water,

we only hiked the 1.4 miles to Post Oak Waterfall.

   Wednesday 9/23

   Texas Health Huguley Hospital

Bryan went to his meeting while Steve got checked into the hospital for a kidney stone!

I had planned 6 sites to do some photography at while Bryan was in his meeting, and then the long drive back home.  The kidney stone ended up causing us to stay in TX an extra day, and for me, all of it was in the hospital.

   Thursday 9/24

   Another day in the hospital!

Had to have a surgical procedure in the afternoon.

The procedure was a success, but in the morning we were blessed with this beautiful sunrise.

   Hoping to go home

Another sunrise from the hospital before I was released.

Waiting for the doctor to evaluate my bloodwork to see if we can go home.

   Trip to Oklahoma

   The bridges "Maggie"

Bryan driving us home!

Actually, Bryan only drove to Dallas, which from Ft. Worth, and with all the traffic, was pretty daunting.

I wanted to stop and see if I was able to photograph a couple of bridges near downtown Dallas,

which I was, and then I elected to drive the rest of the way home.

I think I did pretty good for a guy that just spent 2-1/2 days in the hospital!

The bridges I wanted to see are the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and the Margaret McDermott Bridge.

Less than a mile apart, these two bridges are a couple of examples of beautiful architecture.
