The Center of the Universe

   Info about this location   

► My wife and I ran an errand in Tulsa and I decided to check out this site for a possible location for filming trains.

► I think it will be great for that - although no trains came by while I was there. The angles are all good, and if I use a tripod, I can film from both sides of the bridge at the same time (a couple of my cameras I can operate from my cell phone). Or I'll use my drone to capture footage from the other side of the bridge. Be watching for it.

► The Center of the Universe, which is technically closed for construction, is open enough that you can see where it is supposed to be, which is on the bridge, almost directly above the railroad tracks. There's nothing left of it right now other than a circle in the concrete where it will supposedly be back sometime later this year.

► Other sites in this area...

• The “Artificial Cloud” is a statue at this site created by Native American artist Robert Haozous.

• The Tulsa Union Depot - a former train station, still in use as an office building.

• The BOK Center - 60 (I think) story building, a smaller replica of the Twin Towers that were lost in 2001 in NYC. Side note: on the north side of the towers are some pergolas that were built by Basden Steel, the company I retired from last year. They were also prominent in an episode of the TV show Tulsa Kings a while back.

• The Helmerich & Payne building a few blocks away, a beautiful (my opinion) recent addition to the Tulsa skyline.

• The Hardesty Arts building, which is now used by the University of Tulsa.

• Tulsa City Hall is also in a few of the pics.
