Attempt to find my old drone
11/17/2025

South of the Arkansas River along US-64

between Leonard, OK and Haskell, OK

► On 2022/07/02 I lost my first DJI Mini 2 drone in a freak event and was at the time unable to go look for it.

► It was at a former railroad truss bridge, just south of the Arkansas River, and just north of US-64, between Leonard, OK and Haskell, OK. The bridge goes over a small creek that feeds into the Arkansas River.

► I've driven past this spot several times in the last few years and always wondered if I could find it. Yesterday was one of those days. I stopped there on the way home from church to see how much water was in the creek bed. It didn't look too bad, so today, 3.25 years later, I went to look.

► I spent about 3 hours searching for any kind of sign that would indicate that the drone was buried in the creek bed, but alas, I was NOT able to find the drone.

► I had thought "how cool would it be to comment on my original post, showing the videos and photos that I was unable to share from that day (from the SD card). I also thought "how much more cool would it be if I could get the drone to fly again!" That would have been one for the history books.

► I should have gone looking for it shortly after I lost it, but didn't feel the need to at the time as I purchased a replacement later that same day.

► Here are some pics from today. I didn't find the drone, but I did find a new tortoise shell for my collection (now I have 2)!

► I also almost had to leave my boots there. In one spot, I got into some mud that was so deep, I couldn't get my boots out of it. The more I struggled, the deeper the boots went into the mud. I ended up pulling my stockinged feet out of the boots, and digging them out of the mud by hand. Which led to me being covered in mud. It was a mess.
