3rd stop
Garcés Baptismal Site
Three miles north of this point was the site of the first recorded Christian baptism in the San Joaquin Valley.
On May 23, 1776, Padre Francisco Garcés, earliest non-Indian in this area, baptized an Indian boy whom he called Muchachito at a Yokuts Rancheria in Grizzly Gulch.

Pine Flat Dam & Lake
The dam and everything immediately below it were closed to public access.
I took all of these from a small park just a little downstream from the dam.

5th stop
Confluence of the North Fork Kings River with the Kings River
This location is 35 miles upstream from the dam. Beautiful, but tiring drive.
Especially when you have to do it both ways.
