Road Trip to the Pacific Northwest
7/15/2025
Flagstaff, AZ to Tucumcari, NM
1st stop
Arizona Snowbowl, Flagstaff, AZ
► Drove up to the Arizona Snowbowl (9,200ft elevation), up in the mountains north of Flagstaff. Got there and the resort area was closed until 10am, but the lower parking lots were open. Did find out that drones are not allowed. Took a few pics from the area of the parking lot, then moved to the Kachina trail and hiked about 1/2 mile. On our way out, a ranger was working on the gate and let us drive up as far as we could go. Beautiful area!

2nd stop
Walnut Canyon National Monument, Flagstaff, AZ
► Hiked at Walnut Canyon NM (elevation 6,690ft), just east of Flagstaff, AZ. Hot!
The one mile round-trip Island Trail provides access to 25 cliff dwellings.
It was a little bit of an effort for me. My left knee was complaining all the way down the 273 stairs to the bottom of the trail. My heart and lungs were complaining all the way back up.
Geri actually walked the entire trail - TWICE! Beautiful countryside. Glad we did it.
