September California Trip
9/17  •  Whitney Portal

• 3rd stop today (of my last day in CA for this trip).  
• Whitney Portal is the trailhead for those who wish to hike to the top of Mt. Whitney,

the highest mountain in the contiguous United States.  

The portal is 13 miles west of the city of Lone Pine, CA and is at an elevation of 8,374ft.  

Mt. Whitney is at an elevation of 14,505ft.  The trail is 21.4 miles, round trip.
