Kansas Road Trip

2nd day of a 3 day road trip through Kansas was wrought with peril.

It started raining yesterday and was going at it pretty heavily this morning until about 8:15am.

Headed about 35 miles north of Russell, KS to visit a site (Twin Mounds),

and most of the way it was on dirt roads, but they were packed solid and very drivable.

When I left to get to the next site, the gps selected a side road for me to travel on.

After about 2 miles on that road I came over a rise and it was 400ft downhill,

very muddy with what looked like a pond across the road at the bottom.

I eventually was able to stop and turn around, but could not get a grip to get back up the hill.

Called for a tow but before they got there, I was actually able to get it back up the hill,

and back to the main road.

Turns out all of the remaining sites for this day and the next were on dirt roads.

Made the executive decision to forgo any other sites on this particular trip.

I will visit them in the future when the weather is better!
