Great Basin National Park
This is one unusual park. Nothing but desert for miles in all directions, but in this cluster of high mountains is a valley with a couple of small lakes, and lots of trees. Did a little hiking to get to one of the lakes.

Benton, CA
Once we entered California, just before we got to the town of Benton, we encountered this smoke coming over the hills. I checked and found that the fire wasn't close, so we kept going uphill towards our hotel at Mammoth Lakes. The closer we got, the smokier it was. When we got there, we cancelled our room and drove all the way to Los Angeles. It made it a 15hour driving day. A side note... when I was talking to the people at the hotel, they told me the fire was actually on the western side of the mountains near the town of Fresno, CA.
