The Grand Canyon

Spent the afternoon at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Got lots of pics and had a great time. Stayed the night at a hotel in Tusayan, AZ, just south of the park. It cost $300 a night!! Yikes!!

After we left the GC we drove by Monument Valley. It's kind of weird there because the road into the "official" Navajo National Park starts in Utah, but you drive into Arizona while entering the park. After that, we drove through Mexican Hat, and skirted by Shiprock, NM.

We drove into Colorado and our 1st stop there was at Mesa Verde. It was really cool to see all the cliff dwellings. Then we continued heading east.

Headed due south from the Sand Dunes into New Mexico to go to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge near Taos, NM. Headed east from there through the mountains.

After a stay in Claremore to visit with family, Dad and I started back towards California. Pretty much just drove all the way without scenic stops. Except for this spot. We've driven by it a dozen times but never stopped. So glad we did.
