I was able to take two of my sons, Joey and Bryan, backpacking in the Sierras.
My sister Patti came along with us and did better than I did.
Day One
The flight to SoCal and prepping for the trip in my parent's backyard.

Day Two
The drive up to our cabin at Convict Lake and a hike to the lake.

Day Three - altitude acclimation day
We drove up to Rock Creek Lake (9,200ft) and later a hike around Convict Lake (7,800ft).
The idea was to acclimate to the altitude before our hike to 10,000ft.

Day Four
We hiked 5.8 miles to our campsite behind Mildred Lake, 9,000ft.

Day Five
We hiked 4.5 miles round-trip to Bright Dot Lake.
10,600ft. It was my first trip to this lake.

Day Six
We were pretty whipped from our hike up to the campsite,
then the hike to Bright Dot. We stayed pretty close to camp today. We ate the fish we caugth at Bright Dot for breakfast,
then we fished the small pond just north of our campsite, ate those fish for lunch, then fished Mildred in the early evening, and you guessed it, ate those fish for dinner.
Total of 2 miles of hiking.

Day Seven
Hiked up to Lake Dorothy (10,350ft), then down to Lake Genevieve (10,000ft),
then up to Edith Lake (10,200ft), and up to Cloverleaf Lake (10,400ft).
Patti and I tried to find Bunny Lake, but I forgot my map and we ended up taking a wrong turn.
We turned around when we got to about 11,000ft.
The hike took so long we got back to camp after dark. I was going so slow at one point
(long uphill) that the boys went on ahead and prepared dinner for us. It was great.
Total of about 7.5 miles.

Day Eight
Hiked all the way down to the place where our car was parked.
Total of about 6 miles to the trailhead.
We drove up to Mammoth Lakes, got a hotel room for 4 hours.
The deal was that each person had one hour in the bathroom, and 3 hours to sleep.
Then we drove all the way back to LA.
